Since the pandemic hit the world in early 2020, a lot of sectors were affected by the rapid changes taking place and the uncertainty that came with the situation. However, the pandemic forced us to come up with creative solutions and collectively shift to working online and from home.
We all started using Zoom and other communication channels and started experiencing working from home on a new level. For creative minds, this was an interesting experience. From loss of new ideas caused by being stuck inside, to a new wave of creativity that followed. An example of this is this unofficial KitKat advertisement.
The commercial, which was created as part of a Twitter competition, depicts a daily calendar that is completely filled by Zoom meetings, with a Kit-Kat couple blocking off two spaces in the center, at 3pm. It's straightforward, relevant, and entirely on-brand. In fact, it's so brilliant that many people are applauding Kit-Kat for its brilliance before realizing it has nothing to do with the brand. The advertisement was actually created by Sam Henning and had nothing to do with KitKat’s team.
However, it received such great attention that even Zoom and KitKat themselves were impressed by it!
This is only one of the stories about how creativity always finds a way to surprise us. Another example is of how musicians have reinvented ways to connect with their fans. Bands like Coldplay started going live to stream concerts from their homes for their fans. Museums created 3D websites to give you access to them. You could explore so many things from your house and that was not accessible before.
In conclusion, the pandemic which came as an extreme challenge had pushed us on a collective level to reach new horizons and find new solutions which revolutionized industries from all around the world. In another way, it had also brought the world together in unity against the disease. And while facing challenges like these can be frustrating, they only push humans to come up with new solutions and adapt quickly.
If this pandemic proved anything to us, it is that humans are flexible and easily adaptable beings and can cope with challenges innovatively.
